Today’s chutzpah award

On the 28th of March LiveLeak.com was left with no other choice but to remove the film “fitna” from our servers following serious threats to our staff and their families. Since that time we have worked constantly on upgrading all security measures thus offering better protection for our staff and families. With these measures in place we have decided to once more make this video live on our site. We will not be pressured into censoring material which is legal and within our rules. We apologise for the removal and the delay in getting it back, but when you run a website you don’t consider that some people would be insecure enough to threaten our lives simply because they do not like the content of a video we neither produced nor endorsed but merely hosted.

Classy.

  1. You know, all religions are pretty much the same, and those death threats were taken out of context.

  2. “You know, all religions are pretty much the same”

Yep. You got that right, Bill.

Going back to the original topic, though: it’s good to see that LiveLeak has some guts after all. I was surprised to see them cave initially with so little resistance …. and this statement/release explains their actions perfectly. Good on ‘em.

  4. Alex, more abortion clinics have been bombed on Law and Order than in real life.

How do you deal with the fact that the five greatest mass murderers in the history of the world were atheists?

  5. Oh, sorry, #3 was pagan. Mea culpa.

  6. Hah. How many possible answers to your ridiculous question….let me count the ways….

    1) There has not been a single atheist in history who has killed BECAUSE of his atheism. You will never hear an atheist pledging to fight a war “in the name of no-god!”. In the cases where atheists kill, their lack of belief is just another personality trait. You may as well ask “how many mass murders liked to drink beer”, or “how many mass murderers had moustaches?”.

    2) Your ilk usually goes around claiming Hitler was an atheist, which is demonstrably false. Hitler was a Christian, and the Nazis as a whole were quite religious. There’s good reason to suspect that the holocaust was at least partly based on Hitler’s personal religious beliefs, since he, on more than one occasion, referred to the Jews as “Christ Killers”. Even Stalin was raised religious - his mother sent him to a seminary to become a priest, and there is evidence to suggest that even after discarding the church he still retained a belief in some sort of God.

    3) I don’t particularly care how many abortion clinics were bombed on Law and Order. You probably think that was a clever little quip, and perhaps you would have sounded clever if you weren’t the 100th person whom I’ve heard repeat the exact same phrase. As it is, you simply sound like you’re parroting someone else’s nonsense. More importantly, if you expect Muslims to take responsibility for the acts of their own extremists, then HOW DARE YOU make excuses for your own? Stop being a hypocrite, Bill. Try being a man.
