Am I missing a nuance somewhere?
I happened to click over to Dr. Dawg’s Blog, which I do a couple of times a week. As lefties go, he’s pretty reasonable most of the time, and writes well. But I think the Dawg may have inadvertently rolled in something this morning.
Readers will remember that some time ago I posted a picture I found at the Nizkor anti-revisionist site that was supposedly of speech-warrior poster child Marc Lemire. Mark Steyn published the picture too. Turns out it wasn’t Lemire. I apologized. Steyn apologized two days later. Case closed, one might think. But somehow Steyn’s apology has been interpreted in some dimmer quarters as a scolding of yours truly. I dealt with that here.
Be careful, Dawg. Shaidle and Kay both apologized for not having their facts checked regarding the Warman/Cools post. In fact, the National Post offered not one but two apologies on the matter. And yet… they’re still being sued, along with Shaidle and MacMillan. In your post, you refer to Kathy as being on the “losing end of a lawsuit”.
Unless I’m missing a nuance somewhere, you and Shaidle committed exactly the same pseudo-crime, and apologized for it. If I were you, I would be a little less gleeful at her legal troubles, lest Lamire decide you might be a good target for the exact same lawsuit.

GOTR:
I’d be interested in what Marc would sue me for, exactly. He was the head of the Heritage Front once upon a time. He worked for Ernst Zundel. That photo remained undisturbed at Nizkor for a decade. It was referred to on Usenet many years back, on a newsgroup that Lemire frequently visited. Not a peep out of him.
Mistaking a person in a photo for him (as did Steyn)? Why is that actionable? Just curious.
