Just like we’ve been saying all along

Erm, just try to get over the name of the doctor involved.

A quarter of a century after the outbreak of Aids, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has accepted that the threat of a global heterosexual pandemic has disappeared.

In the first official admission that the universal prevention strategy promoted by the major Aids organisations may have been misdirected, Kevin de Cock, the head of the WHO’s department of HIV/Aids said there will be no generalised epidemic of Aids in the heterosexual population outside Africa.

We’ve been saying forever that AIDS mainly affects men who have sex with men. They do so with little thought for tomorrow, and with zero respect for themselves and their partners. How on earth did the WHO ever get it into their heads that this was going to harm you and I? Well, they got it into their heads because there was money to be made. The more of us who jumped on board, the more of us who believed the hype, the more of us who would donate money and push for funding from world governments.

It’s like global warming, folks. Call me in 25 years, and we’ll talk about that.

  1. It sure would be nice if you’d read the whole article before spouting off.

However, I’m a big believer in personal liberty, so you’re free to have as much unprotected sex with as many partners as you like. I’m sure you won’t be at any risk whatsoever of contracting aids, just like I’m sure that educational campaigns and the increased use of condoms had nothing whatsoever to do with it’s reduction in the western world. It’s only those fags that need to worry, right?

  2. Well Alex, those educational campaigns sure didn’t work on Ontario’s Minister of Health.

  4. It’s very likely that the WHO, and any similar (and probably corrupt) organization, pushed this for cash. And we just love to sit here, as the general public, throwing our money away, not questionning anything..

Yes, anyone is free to “have as much unprotected sex with as many partners as (they) like,” but it’s a fact that anal sex transmits HIV much easier than any other form of sex, because of the, er, thin tissue in that area, that surrounds lots and lots of blood cells, making it easier for the virus to ’seep in.’ It’s also not a very pretty way of doing it, so there’s a better chance of tearing…whatever can be torn. Also, people are less likely to use condoms if there’s no chance of pregnancy.

It’s not “only those fags who need to worry,” (and I’m sure many people resent that term), but the rates are higher in gay men due to the above facts. So they aren’t the ONLY ones who need to worry, but they certainly need to worry MORE.

  5. “but it’s a fact that anal sex transmits HIV much easier than any other form of sex”

Yes, that’s absolutely true. However, it’s also a fact that anal sex has become rather popular amongst heterosexual couples also. The most recent figures indicate that at least 30% of the heterosexual population has engaged in the activity. So while the practice may be more common in the homosexual “community”, it’s certainly not exclusive to them. Your point about condoms is certainly correct, though, and your conclusion is supported by multiple studies. It’s a fact - homosexuals use condoms at a much lower rate than the rest of the population. I’m not sure how that compares to the percentage of straight couples who use condoms while engaging in anal intercourse, though.

“So they aren’t the ONLY ones who need to worry, but they certainly need to worry MORE.”

Agreed. I apologize; the tone of your post made you appear much less reasonable (at least to me). Thanks for responding and clearing things up.
