Yes, that’s absolutely true. However, it’s also a fact that anal sex has become rather popular amongst heterosexual couples also. The most recent figures indicate that at least 30% of the heterosexual population has engaged in the activity. So while the practice may be more common in the homosexual “community”, it’s certainly not exclusive to them. Your point about condoms is certainly correct, though, and your conclusion is supported by multiple studies. It’s a fact - homosexuals use condoms at a much lower rate than the rest of the population. I’m not sure how that compares to the percentage of straight couples who use condoms while engaging in anal intercourse, though.

Yes, anyone is free to “have as much unprotected sex with as many partners as (they) like,” but it’s a fact that anal sex transmits HIV much easier than any other form of sex, because of the, er, thin tissue in that area, that surrounds lots and lots of blood cells, making it easier for the virus to ’seep in.’ It’s also not a very pretty way of doing it, so there’s a better chance of tearing…whatever can be torn. Also, people are less likely to use condoms if there’s no chance of pregnancy.

It’s not “only those fags who need to worry,” (and I’m sure many people resent that term), but the rates are higher in gay men due to the above facts. So they aren’t the ONLY ones who need to worry, but they certainly need to worry MORE.

However, I’m a big believer in personal liberty, so you’re free to have as much unprotected sex with as many partners as you like. I’m sure you won’t be at any risk whatsoever of contracting aids, just like I’m sure that educational campaigns and the increased use of condoms had nothing whatsoever to do with it’s reduction in the western world.
