The day the bullshit died
Newsflash: Levees break in white neighborhoods, riots DON’T break out!
I guess George Bush wasn’t responsible for this one. Because, after all, he only wants to kill black people. Or so we’re told.
Go ahead, click the links and read the stories of how neighbors assist each other, communities sandbag together, and when all is lost they escape before it’s too late.
Now can we blame the idiotic residents of NOLA for what happened to them?

Are you seriously comparing these situations with N.O.? I came to this page from Levant’s latest link and so was expecting something more thoughtful. Not that I think Bush “only wants to kill black people” and all that nonsense but come on. Perhaps I’m missing a joke or maybe you are mentally challenged(in which case please accept my apology), or perhaps you are motivated by other reasons for writing something so unbelievably stupid. In fact, I’m surprised a literate person could write such crap. Anyway, I suppose this will be my last visit to your blog. Gareth. Vancouver.

This blog entry is thoughtless and created with a nonsensical strawman argument that seems to go nowhere.
Comment by Raphael Alexander — June 17, 2008 @ 8:40 pm
Yes I am seriously comparing the situations, just as I did with the last serious fires in CA. Why is it that ONLY New Orleans fell apart? Why is it that ONLY New Orleans screamed and wailed and SHOT AT THE RESCUERS??

The floods in Iowa aren’t just “100 year floods”; they’re now being called “500 year floods”. They are as bad if not worse than those in New Orleans.
And yet for some bizarre reason nobody in Iowa has looted big screen tvs with cops standing right there; the cops haven’t abandoned their posts; they haven’t whined about how George Bush is trying to kill them, etc.
To the previous commenters: cliches and randomly chosen adjectives do not an argument make. Try harder. And more importantly, don’t shoot the messenger.
You seem offended that Wendy would dare to share the observations of “her own lying eyes” — that for some reason, the people of New Orleans and the people of Iowa behaved in the exact opposite manner when faced with very similar circumstances.
Only in a sick, twisted brainwashed world would two so-called “conservatives” scold someone for wondering aloud about what everyone is secretly thinking. That we should have to ’secretly think’ it at all is the real offense here.
Your easy moral posturing and preening makes you look petty and simpleminded. Don’t be upset just because Wendy has the guts to ask the tough questions while you’re busy maintaining the liberal status quo.

I’m curious as to why the original commenter thinks the two situations should NOT be compared?
Comment by Daryl — June 18, 2008 @ 10:38 am
I agree Daryl, but then I think they have what I see has racsist guilt syndrome. You know the type of whitey that will vote for Obamanation because they think they will be racsist if the don’t. They don’t want to admit that when NO got flooded the first thing the blacks thought of was what can we steal.
Comment by Pissedoff — June 18, 2008 @ 1:38 pm
Your going to tell me with a straight face that George Bush didn’t personally bomb the New Orleans levees? Next you’re going to say Dick Cheney didn’t personally tear down WTC building 7 Sampson style. Come on!
Comment by Eric — June 18, 2008 @ 1:44 pm
Eric,
I would go one step further…we see today that the Russians are testing seeding clouds to control the weather…well, I think that BushHitlerHaliburton actually made Katrina and directed it purposely towards New Orleans to destroy black neighborhoods. And they just did it again in Iowa to cover their tracks and show that they can destroy white neighborhoods as well (you know, equal opportunity and all that).
In fact, now that I think of it, they also did the one on Burma 6 weeks ago to show that even Asian neighborhoods can be destroyed. And now, Bush wants to drill in Anwar which is where Inuits live…so their neighborhoods can be destroyed as well.
It all fits, I am telling you, it all fits!

You’re close to seeing it all, but not quite there. Where will all this water in Iowa eventually drain to? The Mississippi. And where will all that water eventually drain? New Orleans! Bush is trying to smite the black population one more time before he leaves office. Very clever for a retarded person.

The reactions of the two diverse populations is striking. Different as night and day. I guess we could cut NO citizens some slack as no doubt many were not gainfully employed and on welfare. But wait a second. Weren’t the cops in on the looting too?
Comment by Al — June 19, 2008 @ 11:55 am
An estimated 50,000 cars were removed from the flooded neighborhoods of NOLA after the water receeded. Don’t tell us those people couldn’t leave. There are two reasons they didn’t leave: 1)they saw the chance to rob the businesses blind without fear of reprisal, and 2) it was the first of the month and they thought they’d miss their wellfare checks.
BTW, when your blaming Bush, don’t forget that he set off the nuke that caused the Indonesian sunamis.

Can I have some of whatever you guys are smoking over here? Because I was actually on the ground when Katrina hit, and I don’t think you have a friggin clue of what you’re talking about.
Neighbors in NO helped each other. I myself led almost ten of my neighbors to safe ground.
I think before criticizing AMERICANS who are a victim of such great tragedy that you should at least check your facts first. Among everything you’re suggesting in your post it’s pretty obvious how truly ignorant you are as a person. How about instead of condemning others you could put your efforts toward helping families that are still having a difficult time recovering from either tragedy. I’d like to think I live in a country full of PATRIOTIC AMERICANS as opposed to shameless idiots who want to make good off another’s misfortune.
Grow the hell up already.

LOL! Laughable. Katrina = +100 mph WIND preceded by heavy rainfall and hit A CITY OF MILLIONS in a few hours. Try and evacuate, sandbag, ETC. that moron. Even if I was shackled to my neighbor I doubt we would have stood a chance. Iowa = DAYS of rainfall flooding rivers in rural and semi rural areas. Dingbat.

Its amazing to see how people can take a natural disaster, wait, disaster(s) and use it to promote their political/racial agenda. Shameful.
Comment by Boyontheright — June 25, 2008 @ 9:57 pm
As John Donne wrote, “If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend’s or of thine own were: any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind.”
To view the floods of New Orleans and Iowa only in terms of race is to cheapen these tragedies, and I think is is self-serving and disgusting.
I don’t particularly like black people, and that’s a personal opinion. I would never use a national tragedy to advance my own personal bias. That’s vile.

The stories about people shooting at rescuers in New Orleans were a complete fabrication. And the murders? Blown out of proportion. It’s all stats, really. The size of a city usually determines the crime rate, hence the bigger the city, the more crime (i.e. murders). With a city the size of New Orleans, the deaths attributed to crimes committed during the disaster weren’t outside of it’s “normal” range.
As for the looting, that was also exaggerated. What looting DID occur was that of necessary foodstuffs and fresh water, which is legally allowable in certain situations.
So, what you have written here is nothing more than a bigoted attempt to make yourself and your ethnicity appear more superior, and I (don’t) regret to inform you that FAIL is my operative word for describing your writing.

Thank you for proving to me beyond a shadow of a doubt that Conservative girls are sickening and racist.

Thank you Peyton for showing up as a farleftoid pompous ass. Usually the jerks who yell racist are indeed probably racists themselves. You are welcome to keep your farleft girls to yourself.

Bush is the worst president in American history. Bush facilitated the 9/11 attacks. Subsequently, Bush lied to Congress and the American people relative to the reasons for invading Iraq. Bush purposefully misled Congress and the American people. Then, Bush murdered more than 4,000 United States service members. And Bush wounded more than 30,000 United States service members. In torturing prisoners of war, Bush patently violated the Geneva Convention. Bush unlawfully wiretapped United States citizens. In using “signing statements” to challenge hundreds of laws passed by Congress, Bush violated the Constitution. Bush has ignored global warming. Bush is guilty of criminal negligence relative to the response to Hurricane Katrina. Bush disobeys our democratic values and Constitution. Bush is a disgrace to the United States.
