I suppose WK reports a taxable beenfit every time someone takes him out for dinner? or feeds him at their home? or gives him a couple of pennies from teh penny dish at Tim Horton’s when his total is $2.03?

A very useful corrective to fashionable foolishness. It’s depressing because it confirms that we’re not getting smarter as a species - at least not in a hurry. It’s amusing because it illustrates that folly isn’t the exclusive domain of any particular country or culture. And it’s ultimately hopeful because it reminds you that we do not, in fact, live in the worst of times.

Fair comment, Balb. But at the same time, life goes on. No one I know is going to sit in miserable penury because of Kinsella and Warman, no matter how much they wish it to be so. Kathy works at a great billing rate for her freelance work. Kate works. Ezra is a lawyer. Dunno what the Fourniers do, but they must have some type of sizeable income, given that they have a color-coded filing cabinet full of SLAPP & HRC suits. But the main thing is that they’re all pretty normal, happy people. They aren’t letting this bullshit get them down. Kathy plowed ahead with her wedding plans. Kate goes about her business. Ezra is getting more work than he can keep up with… Face it: Kinsella is pissed that they have actual support.

PS - That book is very interesting, btw.

Well, I think maybe he finds something ironic in sites festooned with paypal buttons and pleas for money, while the bloggers in question are describing their spa visits, firearms acquisitions, restaurant dinners, Vegas holidays, and so on.

Don’t get me wrong - anything a faux-martyr can extract from a credulous readership is fair game, totally. It’s just amusing, that’s all.

Warren Kinsella doesn’t agree with free-born citizens choosing, of their own accord, to donate money to the defense of a lawsuit they find worthwhile.

He prefers that beleaguered taxpayers be forced by law to pay for them, through human rights commissions and tribunals.
