They create insiders and outsiders. Mr. Reid used to be an insider who helped control the flow. Any dispersal of the control disperses the associated power. Last I checked democracy comes from the Greek roots demos and cratos which mean people and power/authority respectively. If we live in a democracy, how does allowing people to have power hurt the democratic process? Political war rooms are all about information control and media manipulation. Or maybe some conservative person had secretly placed a large cucumber upright on the chair that Mr. Reid had been invited to sit in.
