Where is John Mccain?
Not the John McCain that reaches across the aisle, or the one who wants to “work together” or the the one who would have been uproariously boo’d at CPAC back in February had he not bussed in his own teams of cheerleaders.
I mean, where is the John McCain that the conservatives so desperately need? Real conservatives - not RINOs. They need someone who is going to stand up and scream about the injustices of congress, and the Democrats, and the terrorists who manage and raise funds for his opponent’s campaign.
I read two great posts this morning. The first is from Right Truth:
Americans are tired of the fox guarding the hen house. Barney Frank is the cause of our situation and now he will be investigating what happened. Surely Senator McCain, you can see the irony in this. Americans, Republicans, Conservatives are pulling our hair out.
You need to come out swinging and expose the folks that are responsible for the financial situation, specifically Fannie and Freddie. Name names Mr. McCain.
You are supposed to be the candidate that will keep this country safe from terrorists. Are you aware that the “Federal Reserve extended an $85 billion loan to American International Group to be paid back as AIG sells off some business in the biggest government takeover so far in the ongoing credit crisis” and AIG is continuing to expand its Sharia finance business?
The main stream media is not only using Democrat talking points, they are using Arab talking points, thus spreading the Islamization of America. This leaves Republicans with the great responsibility of getting their own message out correctly. It’s up to you Sen. McCain. Step up and speak out. The MSM does not support you and neither does the Arab world. It is your opponent Barack Obama who received financing from the Palestinians. Name names Mr. McCain.
And the second is from Malkin:
Meanwhile, back in the real world, McCain continues to forbid his campaign from going after Obama for his longtime friendship and ideological partnership with Rev. Jeremiah Wright — and refuses to attack Obama on the Fannie/Freddie/CRA debacles because he fears being perceived as a racist.
Earth to McCain: They will see RAAAACISM in whatever you and Palin will say and do from now until Election Day.
Fight or get rolled.
Wake. Up.
Michelle’s commentors get it, spelling out their dissatisfaction in no uncertain terms.

Why is McCain trying to lose this thing? I have never seen someone display such bravery in battle, but display such cowardice as he is evidencing in this campaign. No fight at all, and it is infuriating that he is the only person that stands in the way of a Marxist overtaking this country.
Nice guys finish last, McCain. Exposing BO for who and what he really is is completely legitimate.

I’ve been wondering the same thing. I’m tired of the “maverick” and “American Mom” schtick. Palin’s comments in Colorado the other day might be the portend of things to come, but Candy McCain has too much history of reaching across the aisle and playing the gentleman that I wonder if he really has the guts to cut off Obama at the knees and keep at it until the election. If he doesn’t, then take the leash off Sarah and let her do the job. It’s damned frustrating, that’s for sure.

Maybe, unlike so many of his supporters, he’s decided that lying and defaming are not things he wants to endorse or support? I understand, of course, what an unthinkable notion that is to you and the Malkins of the world. But McCain, like me, is a an older guy. Some of us still have a quaint residual streak of decency.

Balb, stating the fact that he runs with the like of Ayers is not “lying” or “defaming”, anymore than reminding the public about his longtime relationship with Rev Wright. These are not lies, Balb, they are facts that have been largely ignored in the mainstream of campaign coverage.
If McCain being “older” has anything to do with it, then America might believe he’s lost the will to fight that he once had. Perhaps he just doesn’t want to win.

PS - Speaking of lies and defamation, do you have any opinion on how the media and the Obama campaign has treated Governor Palin and her family? That really must make a gentleman turn green.

I think tomorrow’s debate will be revealing. If McCain still wears gloves and does not finally expose BO for who he really is, it will confirm our suspicion that McCain has already conceded defeat. There simply has never been a time when a presidential candidate had this much known “dirt” in his past and yet BO is being given a free ride. Even Palin was mild during her only planned debate. I think McCain/Palin are putting up just enough of a fight to be able to say that they gave it their best shot, but deep down inside, they know it is almost over for them.

Heh. I forgot I was talking to Right Girl, not Wendy. Sorry. Carry on.

But to fair, your point is well taken. You are quite right. It’s not conceivable that basic honesty would trump McCain’s ambition. Silly of me to suggest otherwise.

Balb - answer me, man!
Hey, I don’t mind if you refer to me as “Wendy” or as “RightGirl”, as long as you don’t resort to some of the pet names your cohort uses…

Sorry, what “cohort”? I realize that your lot is into guilt by tenuous association these days, but I don’t know what you’re talking about.
As for the distinction between “Wendy” and Right Girl - well, that’s the distinction between the blogger and the persona. I’ve had the pleasure of exchanging notes with Wendy, who appears to be a pretty smart person with a good sense of humour. Right Girl, on the other hand, is simply a propagandist who appears willing to say pretty much anything to make a point…the daughter-fucking posts, the Somalis chopping Monte Solberg up post, and similar dementia. I’m doing you the favour of distinguishing between the two.
