I could make a case to “blame Bush” for argument’s sake, had “gay marriage” been legalized and federalized those dykes would have been divorced and living apart and one probably wouldn’t have murdered the other, their “lack of means to a legal divorce as a result of Bush’s homophobic policies” contributed to the death of this poor innocent lesbian forced to live with an obsessive bulldyke Huffington post writer.

Had these poor Lesbians not been victims of “legal discrimination in divorce” they would have been living peaceful separate lives, instead they were forced to cohabitate in a legal no man’s land.

Personally I don’t think the state should indulge the mentally ill with gay marriage.

How is this a liberal v. conservative issue? Conservatives are the holier than thou ones who look hypocritical when they are caught in a variety of “perverse” activities. Is this just revenge for that? So she happened to be a liberal blogger. We also know of some gay Republican politicians who have gotten into trouble — and some straight ones too from both sides of the aisle. Granted, they haven’t murdered anyone that we know of (go ahead and pile on your morbid Ted Kennedy jokes), but do we really want this to be a liberal/conservative issue? Also, how is this a gun issue? You don’t have any better arguments and you have to set up these straw men (or lesbians and their screwdrivers) to argue against? Don’t go slumming or resorting to your mindless stereotypes. Think. Have class and dignity. You can come up with all sorts of reasons to be against gay marriage and Democrats and gun laws. This just isn’t one of them.

But its comments like these that make people go underground and self-hate, even taking out their aggression on their partners as sometimes even routine arguments can be exacerbated by the societal pressures. Obviously, something went horribly wrong in that relationship and might have regardless of where it took place. But a lot of gay people who have been forced to live in the closet thanks to the attitudes and language we see hear (shame on you for relish in this tragedy!) stay in violent relationships at even higher levels than heterosexuals because the police rarely take same-sex dating violence seriously and there are few safe havens that will make ppl feel comfortable to seek help from. It’s always the case that the majority in power points a mocking and judgmental finger when minorities react violently to years of widespread oppression. Of course heterosexuals or societal norms didn’t cause this crime, but the overall milieu certainly isn’t conducive to healthy relationships either. The comments that we see here are clearly part of the problem.

Lily, perhaps but statistically there are much higher levels of domestic abuse among same sex partners - it stands to reason that we will see quite an increase in these types of events in the future.
