Canadian journalism: Death By Irony
This week’s issue of J-Source has a lot of talk about huge layoffs in Canadian mainstream media. It also has a loooong article on that made-up disease (like peanut allergies, post-partum depression and lactose intolerance) - “Islamophobia“. For those of you unclear on your psych jargon, a phobia is an irrational fear of something. Got that? Irrational. Whereas my fear of Muslims is pretty rational, thankyouverymuch!
Anyway, like all such articles on “Islamophobia”, this one comes out just days after Muslims kill a whole bunch of Jews and foreigners in Mumbai. Sweet.
So attention Canadian Journalists! Your genre is dying because you are retarded and because you are sleeping with the enemy! Perhaps if you spent more time dealing with the real problems, instead of making problems up that insult your readership while you attempt to make them feel bad about themselves for something they are not actually doing anyway, well - maybe then there wouldn’t be so many layoffs.
Yes, the media is sleeping with the enemy. I some instances partly owned by the enemy (Fox). And they are afraid to even name the enemy. How can we win against any enemy with stuff like this going on? It realy makes me worry. The U.S. State Department refuses to use the name too.
Thanks for the kind words about our dog(s). Hubby said this new puppy better live a very LONG and healthy life, because we do not want to go through this again any time soon. He cried like a baby as he sat there and comforted her while the vet gave her the lethal injection. My heart broke for both of them.
I was so glad that we had just bought the new puppy. She can be a comfort to both of us, but especially him.

What do you mean!?! The press is doing a bangup job. They just won a national presidential election here in America!
Seriously, when the press refuses to call a spade a spade we have some pretty deep problems. The benefit of the press over something like, say the internet, is with the probability of accuracy. That being largly down the tubes now… well, where will truth be found?
Credibility is so easily lost. How does one rebuild it once its gone? The sky may really be falling one day…

Apparently you’ve never known anyone with lactose intolerance. And believe it or not some folks are allergic to peanut products. The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America estimates that peanut allergy is the most common cause of food-related death (… which does not justify the peanut Nazis however). You need to get out into the real world more. Maybe the next thing we’ll hear from you is that cancer and heart attacks are made-up diseases.

Ken - lactose intolerance used be be called “gas” back before everyone needed victim status. Let the fart out, dude, and you’ll feel less repressed.

And how many exactly die from peanut allergy reactions Dad Ken. Give us a number.
CDC data show food allergy deaths are extremely rare, with peanut-related deaths almost nonexistent.
Now get some psychiatric help.
The Center for Disease Control in the US says death from peanut allergy CDC studies show about 25% of parents think their kids have food allergies when only about 4% really do. And only 1% actually have peanut allergies.
The health benefits of peanuts to the other 99% far outweigh the risks. A handful of peanuts twice a week halves the risk of heart attack. Peanuts have the lowest glycemic index and decrease the risk of diabetes.

Islamophobia is a way that the media frames addressing the “bad guys,” nothing more - like condescendingly defending children who have misbehaved. But though I’m no media snob or member of the leftist illuminati, I do take exception to taking post-partum depression lightly, even if (hopefully) it’s tongue-in-cheek. Too many women are affected by it to lump it in with politically correct verbiage from the mainstream media.

If only I felt certain that the average journalist actually knew what the word “irony” means!
The practice of journalism as a profession seems to have devolved into an interplay of “intellectual currency management” and “diversionary tactics” by the intellectually deficient.
As a Canadian who has not actually PAID for a Canadian newspaper in over a decade, I am struck by a particular “irony”. The Canadian MSM would have us believe in their commitment to “green policies”, yet I cannot seem to look at a weekend edition of a newspaper as anything other than an assault on forests. For example, The Toronto Star’s weekend edition can sometimes be half-an-inch thick, yet it contains no more “information” than a weekday edition one-quarter the size (i.e. virtually none). DISGUSTING and IRONIC all rolled up into one. Ya gotta love it!
