According to Stratfor.com Russian soldiers retook a Georgian village near the breakaway region of South Ossetia on Dec. 13 after pulling out of the village Dec. 12, Reuters reported. When the troops pulled out of the village of Perevi, Georgian police moved in, but the Russians had returned by nightfall. Pictures shown on television showed soldiers building up a check point and unloading sandbags from a truck. Cease-fire monitors from the European Union said they verified that Russian troops reoccupied the Perevi checkpoint and had sent “a considerable number of troops” to Perevi.
