A short video on SOME of the things banned in free nations in 2008
I could add a lot to this list. Hell in Canada we ban a lot more and ban discussing it sometimes. So most of us don’t even know that circus’s are banned for instance, in the city of Ottawa Ontario. Thats just for openers.

My husband did take my kids to the Shriners’ circus recently. I don’t know if that meets the legal definition of a circus.

They banned the banning video (O:} This age will be a rich one for irony for future comedians.

The ban in Ottawa was specifically for circus’s which featured any animal acts. It is a real ban but the Shriners either do not have animals in the acts or modified it so they have none for Ottawa. City council may also have made an exception as its charity based. But the ban is real I can assure you among a lot of other much more destructive and pointless not to mention expensive bans in Ottawa such as the pest control chemical ones which now require very labor intensive maintenance of city parks to keep them usable.
As to the ban on the video, Remember what happened to Fitna on live leak not even to mention the Canadian HRC’s bans on what is allowed. I think the best example is the comedian who heckled two lesbians who where destroying his act at a Vancouver club. He found himself in front of the BC HRC. I do not know what happened to him but his career enjoyed a brief boost from the publicity. Comics are not excepted by the rights fascists.
There was a single frame comic from the Wizard of Id back when I was a child that haunts me to this very day. It was a drawing of the court jester upside down in shackles on the prison wall, head near the floor and legs spread apart in irons. The caption read “It’s difficult to be consistently funny and consistently careful”
This one liner I read when I was maybe 11 has never left my semi conscious. There is more wisdom in that joke than in much of the sage’s of these times.

And here I thought the reason Ottawa banned appearances of the circus was because the real thing would detract from the clowns on Parliament Hill.
Or …
Watching Question Period is funnier than any real circus could possibly be.
Or …
It’s embarrassing watching all those MPs rail around after each other, holding onto coat tails.
I’m until Friday and I have a million of them. Be sure to try the lamb; it’s imported.

I would believe that federal MP’s are clowns if you could stuff 20 of them into a smart car. As you can never get more than one into a stretch limousine…

There was a news story that said that the FDA bans carbonated beverages from being fortified with vitamins.
I thought that was nuts.
