Toronto Hamas Counter Protest TOMORROW!

The Jewish Defense League is hosting a counter-rally tomorrow at Yonge & Dundas Square. Meet at 1:30 pm at the Southwest Corner of Dundas & Yonge, in front of the Eaton Centre. I will be there.

In other Israeli-offensive news, this is an excellent post by Leah, an Israeli-American friend of mine.

Well here’s my question; where was the world’s outrage when a bomb from Gaza landed mere meters from my best friend’s house? Where was the world’s outrage at the Israeli civilians who were being “targeted”—if one can call blind firing of rockets into purely civilian areas actual targeting—for the past month? Is it all right to bomb Israeli citizens intentionally and wrong to bomb buildings in which Hamas terrorist leaders are holed up continuing their terror after warning the civilians to leave?

Where was the world while my best friend’s been “fixing up” her bomb shelter and worrying about her sons’ day care, because it doesn’t have one? Those children are not important…

…But how dare the world’s media use such biased coverage as to interview a Palestinian woman living in the hell that is now Gaza without talking also to an Israeli woman trying to save her kids? How can any use of force against Israel be counted and reported in said media as everyday behavior but a 5-day offensive to make that behavior stop be reported as unwarranted violence? Why must my country be asked repeatedly to be the lamb to the slaughter whenever it is faced with attack?

  2. I only wish more Canadians had the courage to come out and face the fascists in our midst. Our own counter-protest in Vancouver could have been so much more. Sadly, many of my friends were too intimidated by the threat of violence by the pro-Hamas crowd to come out.

See the highlights of our rally here:

  3. we are not pro-hamas, the majority of the people at the anti-bombing of gaza protest on jan 3rd in toronto did not support the tactics hamas uses against isreal, but they were there protesting isreals murder of innocent civilians, they’re occupation of palestine, and to show they are against zionism.

  4. When we see traffic violators, we ask: Where is there a cop when you need one? When we know of such demonstrations we might ask: Where is there a homicide-bomber or anti-personnel rocket when you need one?

  5. Sadly people don’t always know about these protests until they are happening. I know I would have attended had I known about the protest a day or 2 earlier. I am a strong supporter of Israel and Jews everywhere. I think it is really scary that more Canadians are not protesting against Hamas and their vicious attacks against Israel. (Canadians need to see how aggressive the pro hamas groups behave.) If Montreal started to bomb Ontario on a regular basis we would be very quick in defending ourselves and we would not show the same restraint and compassion Israel has shown to the Palestinians. Israel actually calls and gives warnings to where they are going to bomb. I am not Jewish but this I know Israel has a right to defend herself. Hamas is evil and has done more harm to the Palestinians people then Israel. Wake up people and seek out the TRUTH don’t just accept what antisemitic radio stations like 680 news tell you. I am so BUGGED that 680 news does such poor and unfair reporting against Israel. Hope I can say this but 680 news is totally antisemitic and they need to JUST report the news and leave out their personal and unjust bi-asses. Canadians need to wake up because what is happening in England, France and Holland may eventually be happening here. Do you think that because people move to Canada they leave behind their hate and aggression. I don’t think soooooooooooo.

  8. Why are there no anti Hamas demonstrations?

    Comment by John Talbot — January 10, 2009 @ 6:10 am

  9. May I ask YOU a queation? Why is that people should be outraged about the fact that hamas is bombing Israel back? WHAT is there to be outraged about? the 3 civilians who died? or the 10 soldiers who died? SORRY about the bomb that hit close to your friends house, but hunnie, HONESTLY did anyone die? nono, I value a life, its GOD’s creation, and one should value every life. But you CANNOT and I repeat CANNOT compare the death of 3 civilians and 10 soldiers to over 860 civilians, more than 50% CHILDREN & GOD knows how many thousands injured. Please consider what you are defending. I’ll tell you why no there were no Jewish/Israeli demonstrators at the rally (pro-israel) This is because those people had enough dignity and respect for themselves and the palestinians that they either switched sides, or just did not want the humiliation of standing up for something so rediculous. I STRONGLY BLV that those 6 demonstrators that were pro-israel in the toronto protest, wanted coverage by the media, they just wanted to come on TV,because really, what are they defending? wht are you all defending? If you are jewish, your religion does not teach you to follow the path of a zionest. THIS is why we had many many israeli/jewish people in the protest on the pro-palestinian side, also many rabi’s.
