Target Rich Environment
I got very bad frostbite yesterday, and lost my voice, but the cause was well worth it.
The typical terrorists - Che Marxist, Palestinian Hamas supporters and Hezbollah murderers - marched by the thousands to decry Israel’s defense of its civilians.
On our side of the street, maybe 150 people. It was Shabbas, the Jewish day of rest. There were as many WASPs and Catholics as there were Jews braving the cold in defense of Israel. There were also the Hindus, still reeling from the horrific attacks in Mumbai at the end of November.
Between us, a thin line of bike cops.
Dundas Square was brimming with hatred the likes of which my non-city readers will never have seen before, unless they’ve been in the military. A nicely placed IDF mortar would have been useful, but then again, there were too many women and children. Israel never would have risked it.
I lost my voice screaming Infidels for Israel and God Bless the IDF. Two teenage girls who had just come to Canada from Israel stood in front of me, on the brink of tears when they saw the Hezbollah flag flying in the streets of a country where Hezbollah is ostensibly an illegal terrorist organization. I hugged them. I wanted to apologize for what they were seeing. They kept asking me “Why? Why are they doing this?” and I couldn’t answer.
I don’t know why.
“They kept asking me “Why? Why are they doing this? ”
They can also ask “Why do so few Canadians care about Islamic violence?”
Sad but true.

Glasnost, excellent pictures. Though I admit I felt more sorrow over the Israeli Doberman than I did over the Palestinian child.

Because they’re buying into the body-count reporting, and because the idea of rooting for the underdog doesn’t ever ask if the underdog is the “good guy” — all our cultural discourse convinces us that the underdog is the “good guy”. All our movies, books, etc., deal with good guys working against great odds, and because our education no longer seeks to teach us to discriminate between good and bad, we needn’t bother, we need only look at who has more power and immediately boo and hiss against them.

You know the infidel haters of the “Religion of Odium” & lets kill some joo’s types called anti-Zionists. There only worried because Jews are winning. If they where losing there would be not a whisper about or emergency UN meetings.
As Mark Styne said today:” no one care that the Tamil Tigers where defeated in old Ceylon. It does not affect there pets. Frankly as I said at SDA today the civilians of Gaza have left a long time ago. What’s there now is schools with rockets, hospitals with ammo, children as shields with those willing to strap bombs on their own children.
I Stand with Israel G-D speed to them.

Great work GOTR,
It makes me sick to my stomach when I see this shit and what has become of Toronto/Canada. I just sent 4 angry emails to Spider Jones on CFRB for allowing some dick from the CIC to spout a bunch of pro-islamist anti-semetic filth over the air-waves for a full half hour. This guy (Spider) is such a hack, amateur he starts giving me greif over the air because I dare question his journalistic integrity as a host and for not even questioning this guy’s hate on for the jews and the State of Israel. Meanwhile the guy from the CIC and the callers after the segment who more or less want to kill all the Jews and destroy Israel…that’s fine, that’s not hate speech. I’m the one with the problem?

Thanks for posting this. I came over from SDA.
I was born in Toronto and the last time I visited was almost two years ago now. Yonge Dundas was sure different. For a time when I was young it was a place where you could see people trying to spread the word on some cause or another, but not this sort of stuff. Then for a while it was pretty much forbidden. Now the southeast corner is barren, and there is a giant television up there. Weird.
And now we have armchair terrorists.

The fact that two teenage girls from Israel did not understand why Hamas supporters where ‘doing this’ speaks volumes. There is a movie called Farewell Israel which makes the case that Israel’s failure to understand the Islamic mind is it’s undoing. Islam still hasn’t even taken to the idea of a nation state let alone a cooperative coexistence for mutual prosperity. If Israel doesn’t yet understand the genocidal and world dominating intentions of Islam, what chance do the rest of us have?

Hi Wendy, sorry I didn’t see you when you left. Things got a little confusing as I didn’t know that they were going to parade up Yonge St. to Bloor and across to Avenue Road. When they started to pour out of Dundas Square into the street, the police started to have us move west on Dundas as a group. After we turned north on Bay someone told me that we we headed for the Israeli consulate and a few blocks later I learned where that was. The police were with us on their bicycles and told us they wanted us to get to the consulate first so that we could be in position before the demonstrators got there.
Many others had left so by the time we got there, we were less than one hundred in size. There was a set of actual barricades (not just the bicycles at Yonge and Dundas) at the north curb and another at the centre line of Bloor. It was about 15 or 20 minutes before the first demonstrators arrived and the police were standing between the two sets and all the mounted police were also there with horses and their riot shields across the horses eyes. I don’t know how they acted on their trip up Yonge and across Bloor but when they arrived and saw us all there they were really riled up. One muslim leader was between the barriers with the police trying to get the worst of the young men to calm down, to no avail.
There were as you know a couple of Hindus with us due to the recent terrorism in Mumbai. It’s time that all non-muslim people in Canada start to get the message whether they follow any religion or not. There were many cries of DEATH TO ALL INFIDELS, ALL INFIDELS MUST DIE. One was grabbing his crotch and thrusting the stick and his sign between his legs shouting WE’LL RAPE ALL YOU(R) BITCHES! There should have been many charges laid under section 319(2) of the Criminal Code. Not only did the police not charge anyone, about 15 minutes after the demonstrators arrived our group started to move around the corner to the west side of Avenue Road. I asked why we were leaving and was told that the police had asked us to move as they were beginning to believe that if the barricades broke they couldn’t protect us so they asked us to move along. As I rounded the corner I could see all the muslims crawling all over the property of the church on the north-east corner of Bloor and Avenue Road. The traffic southbound had been stopped at Cumberland and we were escorted across Avenue Road and headed east with all the traffic on Cumberland to Bay St. By this time I realized we were really stretched out due to sidewalk construction and that we had absolutely no police escort. Not very good keeping their motto to serve and protect.
I also didn’t know their permit included heading south to the U.S. consulate to burn flags. I believe it’s also time for Canadians to realize that they have to stop the anti American rhetoric towards our (and their) largest trading partner, neighbour and best friend, and allie through two world wars. It seems to me that the lesson of Neville Chamberlin and appeasement have been forgotten.

They do it because that is what they have been taught to do. No one of consequence has ‘called’ them on it. They are not confronted, not by the government, not by the media, not at school, not at the mosque. Nowhere are they taught that what they do is evil. So evil marches forth.

The pro-Israel rally was organized by the JDL, an extremist terrorist group founded by a Jewish supremacist (he urged Israel to ban all sexual relations between Jews and “outsiders,” for example), so I’m not sure why you were bothered by the Hezbollah flag…

I was just wondering if anyone had noticed that when the “palestinians” fire mortars and missiles, and paticipate in other acts of terrorism - whether in Israel or anywhere else in the world - there are no civilians, no innocents. A jew is fair game, no matter the age, sex or place….but turn the tables and have a terrorist hide in the midst of a school or a mosque, and the “palestinians”, as well as most of the rest of the world is outraged when there are casualties, even though the root cause is the cowardly “palestinian” hiding from his 72 Helen Thomas reward!!!
I too am outraged. But my outrage is directed toward the raving lunatics who refuse to see that Israel (and her people) have bent over backwards trying to allow the “palestinians” to live in peace, to have a place do so and to make their way in the world. No reasonable person would tolerate what Israel has put up with to this point. They are where they are (location) by UN mandate.
Israel was created out of land that a farmer would laugh at, in an area that no one wanted, that was unproductive before the evil juice made it into an example of what people working together can do.
“Palestinians” have been sold a bill a goods by their corrupt leaders and the leaders of other nations and factions bent on the destrction of Israel and the extermination of all Jewish people.
I neither the time, money or patience to try and reform their thinking. If they want to die in their struggle, so be it. If they want to live in peace, I am quite sure that Israel will do all they can to help them become productive members of society.
Thanks RG for allowing me this opportunity to vent. Although I am not Jewish, I stand with them. I will not submit, I will not allow a friend to be forced into submission.

The term “Contemporary Canadian Left” is apparently a synonym for “Congress of Arseholes”. One learns something salient and new every day, doesn’t one?
Palestinians have been nurtured on hatred for over half-a-century (much of it financed by Canadian tax dollars, btw!) into becoming a WMD. No Arab/Islamic state in the ME wants them. Every such state has thousands of “camps” to “contain” the local Palestinian population. You couldn’t SELL a Palestinian to a Muslim on e-Bay if you TRIED!
