I cringe on Kinsella’s behalf
I know I don’t like getting called out for something I said. I’m still smarting over an article in the National Post from almost three years ago where I got called a “bigot in an echo chamber”. Bad press always hurts. And these days Warren “Catmeat” Kinsella is getting a lot of bad press.
While I sympathize with what a shitty couple of months ol’ Catmeat has had, I can’t help but point out that he’s brought it all on himself. Attacking Kathy Shaidle from all angles (unsuccessfully), racist comments, trying to throw his (non-existent) weight at broadcasters and Jewish groups, defending terrorist behavior (that one actually surprised me more than the others)… I think Warren needs a little time out of the spotlight. He’s harming himself possibly at an irreparable level. He’s being called out for his behavior in the House of Commons. Instead of laying low and letting it blow over, he’s hurling insults and attacking Kathy again.
The object of his frenzied obsession, Kathy Shaidle, gave me some advice last year. I was having a hard time, my medication was a mess, I was drinking too much. Kathy sent me a very cold, very clinical email that I wish someone would care enough to send to Warren Kinsella:
You have turned into Rachel Marsden. Time to clean yourself up.
The first thought was “I’m gonna slap that mouthy little bitch.” The second thought was “Holy shit, I really have turned into Rachel Marsden, haven’t I?” Needless to say, I never slapped my mouthy little friend. In fact, I thanked her.
Perhaps if Warren could see his way through his displaced hatred for Kathy, he too could benefit from the cold shower she gave me:
Warren, you’ve turned into Rachel Marsden. Time to clean yourself up.

Kinsella is a legend in his own mind. There is nothing you or anyone else can do that would make him contemplate his own inadequacies. In his mind, he has none.
A man who works for the political machine and yet thinks of himself as a punk must be so delusional so as to believe that he can actually square these two circles.
You should be working toward his political demise, not advising him as to how he can avoid this inevitable outcome. He certainly does not wish anything but despair and failure for you. At least he has never indicated any different. It is a testament to your nobility that you do more for him.
