YouTube: RightGirl on Michael Coren
Attention my American readers (and my non-digital Canucks). Here’s last night’s show, courtesy of SDAMatt. Segment 3 is the one with the argument between Michael and me.
Segment 1
Segment 2 - technical difficulties. I’m told it’s on its way.
Segment 3 - voices get raised
Segment 4
Segment 5

It’s refreshing to hear some straight talk for a change.
I have to admit however that my 8:00 pm in the ED time slot is taken up by the O’Reilly factor, although I did toggle back and forth to catch you on Coren.
I hope Michael hasn’t blacklisted you Wendy from future guest spots.
Thanks to SDAMatt for the You Tube links.

This is the 1st time that I have seen his program. Maybe in person he is the nicest guy to ever have 2 legs but I found him very irritating and would be hard pressed to come up with a reason to ever watch again. Your disagreement with him has no bearing on this but I do agree with you.
Comment by Bob Devine — March 10, 2009 @ 5:44 pm
His put down of you was absolutely over-bearing. His is an “opinion show”, you offered your opinion and to be spanked like that in public I found very unfair. You should refuse to ever go on his show again.

There were no drive by shootings before Columbus sailed the ocean blue, so whose fault is all of this, Spain or Italy’s?
Comment by Big Al — March 10, 2009 @ 9:55 pm
At heart he still has a bit of the English snob about him.Its amazing how culture molds us. Your only a colonial you know.
Looks like you won’t be back ? Good for you standing up to the tantrum. I like Coren by the way, but like us all, he too can be a jack ass.

Michael Coren can be a weenie PC dweeb sometimes.

BION, we watch the MC Show often. We know MC’s antics well. He’s a good guy, of course — just a little overwhelmed sometimes by his bully-genes.
In our opinion G on the R made a gentle, technical knock-out. And the reason is very obvious to those who watch regularly…
The reason is that MC himself is probably THE most dismissive TV host. The psychology of the situation is well-known.

Very cool Right Girl. I enjoyed watching you on the show!

I was appalled by Coren’s bad behavior. He threatened you on air if you did not let him finish a sentence - an act he does repeatedly. I often find him super annoying. Would he have done the same to an older white man? I don’t think so.

I never heard of Coren before you mentioned him on your blog. Thanks for letting your audiance in on these local celebrities from obscure areas of Canada.

Just caught last nights Coren show at noon today. As usual he read a letter from a viewer at the end of the show. He chose a rather dismissive letter about your visit to the show the previous night. If I heard correctly, the viewer basically called you a racist. I sense that MC agreed from his comments and from the fact he chose this specific letter to high lite. I may be totally out to lunch here but would appreciate your thoughts.

BMacD - I didn’t watch last night’s show, so I didn’t hear the letter. If I had $1 for every time I got called a racist, I could buy Michael for cash and sell him for credit. Perhaps he agreed with the person who wrote the letter - who cares? Week after week he invites a virulent anti-semite - Sid Ryan - onto his show. Michael understands that in a free(ish) society there will be myriad opinions, and he tries to make sure they all get represented.

I don’t know if it’s just an artifact of his British heritage, but I often find that Michael expresses an uneven share of white guilt — especially when natives are involved.
He was being quite dismissive of your view point and the views of “your friends” as he mockingly put it.
I’m sure Michael would denounce me as racist for saying so, but even if you DO believe that native alcoholism is the fault and responsibility of “the white man”, to my knowledge no white man was present to pour it down this particular native’s gullet and no white man coaxed him to bring those little girls into the snow. This happened in a native home, on native land and under the cultural influence of natives. I think naively believing that there is spiritual healing to be found in a culture that cultivates this kind of tragedy as a matter of course, serves only to perseverate the problem.
I think you were right to speak your mind (and the minds of many of us)…even if it does mean you don’t get invited to all the “cool” parties anymore. Well done.

I just watched the show. Yikes. I agree with your statements, Wendy.
The appeal to white guilt was a bit too heavyhanded. I’m glad you brought up tobacco-related deaths. I’m sick to death of whitey being blamed for every real or supposed ill in society.
MC took offense when you made light of native “justice” ceremonies yet he had no problem making tacky jokes about the topless coffee shop. But what if the topless waitresses were natives? No one went topless until the white man came here!
I think highly of MC but his smackdown seemed to be about more than what you had just said. It seemed to be about your attitude, the tone you take on your blog and about who was in charge.

On Tuesday, I wrote an email to Coren telling him he was wrong to admonish Wendy in such an insulting way. I asked how come he ignores the idiot rants of Marilyn Churley without giving her any crap.
Well wouldn’t you know it, the next night he gives Marilyn a beat down, in an even more insulting way he beat down Wendy. Watching her Marilyn’s lip quiver, I couldn’t help but feel sorry for the old gal (and I do mean old).

I feel sorry for you Wendy for having to sit back and listen to that pompous self righteous needle dick, Michael Corren. What an ass. Nothing you said was even remotely insulting, and frankly I love you brash commentary and he went ballistic.
Comment by Faramir — March 13, 2009 @ 12:57 am
Coren is a coward. Does anyone think he would have been this insulting and rude to Pit Bull Lawyer Levant. Not on your life. Watch him fawn and grovel in front of Lawyers. Ezra would have ripped him a new one on the spot….and he damn well knows it.
This guy is a little fat pecker head Wendy, and he owes you an on-air apology. You are neither racist nor a coward. Entirely the opposite. He is clearly sexist and a coward.
Comment by Jim R — March 14, 2009 @ 1:23 pm
While I generally like Coren’s show he can be a pompous, overbearing prick - and he definitely was in this case. You took it well, Wendy - good show!

I prefer Rightgirl any day. Coren is a 65% man. The rest is PC logical fallacy and cognitive dissonance. EVERYTHING he incohenetly and pompously babbled to attack Wendy was simply not true or rational. Mere moral vanity phony baloney posing. Colonel Robert Neville blogspot com.
