Too timid to live
Learning how to fasten a tie had always been a schoolboy’s rite of passage.
But then the health and safety police got involved.
Concerns over accidental strangling, playground games in which pupils yank each others’ ties and fears that ties might catch fire in science lessons have seen the classroom institution fall victim to its clip-on cousin.
How do Britons still have the wherewithal to get out of bed every morning? Aren’t they afraid they might stub a toe or slip in the bathroom? How has Britain not instituted a telecommute/homeschool policy to make sure people don’t have accidents on business/school property?
What a bunch of self-neutering turds. They have lost the will to live, and the very act of waking each day clearly scares the hell out of them.
Anthropology students around the world, take note: This is how a society dies.
Seriously? SERIOUSLY? Wow. I wore a tie to school everyday for 5 years. Yes, I’m a girl. And I can tie a tie better than 1/2 my guy friends, thank you very much. If catty pre-teen and teenage girls can manage to not strangle each other using their ties, it can’t possibly be that serious of a problem, can it?
Here’s a thought. How about we teach our children to pay attention to both their surroundings and what they’re doing when dealing with fire in science class. I never once heard of anyone in my school having her tie catch on fire. Not once. My cat once singed his eyebrows on a candle, but that’s because he has no common sense whatsoever. Apparently the British think their children don’t either. Heaven help us when these kids grow up.

You really do have to take some of these stories with a pinch of salt. I know it’s attractive to believe every story you hear about another country, but be careful. If this was something more than a single incient where an over zealous, ass-covering official made a stupid decision/comment/recommendation, then yes, these comments would be valid. But it’s not, and they aren’t. Wise up people.
