Happy Memorial Day
Or Decoration Day, as it used to be called. The day when the townspeople would flock to the cemeteries to decorate the graves of the fallen after a long winter.
While you’re barbecuing or playing with the kids today, spare a moment to remember why you had the luxury of sleeping in today.

I still remember when adults still called it Decoration Day. I watched the Concert on PBS last night and spent most of it in tears. Yes, this Old Retired Petty Officer said tears. And who wouldn’t have had tears, you ask. Check 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington DC for that one.
