Hi Robin. Your sentiment is spot on. However, this is an Islamic woman, yelling about political and cultural ideas in the middle of a street. She is unaccompanied by a male relative. She is speaking her opinion. She is conversing with male strangers. By virtue of her own religion, she is a whore and should be stoned. But wait, there’s more! The only reason the is free to do this without penalty of death is because at some point in (probably recent) family history, a move was made to the Land of the Free. AKA the Great Satan.

How she doesn’t choke on the irony is beyond me.

I look at it as the islamic whore is practicing freedom of speech and so are we. Christians are taught to turn the other cheek, I am turning the other cheek of my ass for islam to kiss. I refuse to tolerate nor embrace the backward barbaric lie called islam. I refuse to pretend islam has any value in a civilized world. The muslims and the left can pretend all they want, and I will continue to call them on it. To point out the irony of a muslim female protesting anything, whereas they are considered of less worth than the family camel under the laws islam, is a point that has to be made.

Wow “Revnant”. I’m not arguing for Islam, nor trying to justify it. There have been centuries of bloody murders perpetrated in its name. (The same can be said, unfortunately, for Christianity.)
One thing I’m arguing for is freedom of speech.
I didn’t see anyone removing this right from the family (if that’s what they were). In fact, they had the right to use the inflammatory “Jihadist” on their placards.
If you read my words you’ll see I’m not defending her faith, merely her right to have it, to express it, and to exercise it (so long as it harms nobody, natch). I love that she interprets it as peace – wouldn’t it be great if all Muslims did the same?
I’m opposing hate. I’m opposing jingoism and ignorance. I’m with Martin Luther King: “Darkness cannot drive out hate. Only love can do that.” (Funnily enough, I found that on a Muslim website.)
Incidentally, there are philosophical paradigms in which there is no true evil, no real good (Tao Te Ching, Buddhism). They’re noteworthy not least for the fact that no one spills blood in their name.
I think Jesus would appreciate that.
Anyway, I’ve said my bit, and didn’t mean to turn this section into my own soapbox. Peace be with you all.

Hi Kursk. I didn’t forget, so much as omit vast tracts of history that’ve all been fully worked over by historians and scholars far more knowledgeable and motivated than I.
What I was trying to do was simply broaden the context of, and inject a little perspective into, what I can only interpret as a hate piece. Hatred seeming somewhat overblown at that, considering all the woman did was loudly voice her own views in a setting of dubious appropriateness, however distasteful those are to other Americans. (I say dubious, because obviously the word “Jihadists” got her dander up and she felt compelled to address what she saw as a slur.)
I come back to my point: in what society is it right to call another a whore, and suggest (tongue-in-cheek though I’m sure it was) that “the bitch” be stoned, because she publicly promulgated her sincerely held religious views?
Is that the society Jesus urged us to create?
Does it make us any better (or less hatred-inflaming) than the extremists?
Did He not also suggest that those among us who have no sin should throw the first stone?
With regard to the reaction (or perceived lack thereof) of “moderate mainstream” Muslims, either you’re not listening, or you’re not looking in the right place. (Granted, the noise could be louder.)
For example, google “Fatwa Against Terrorism”. Or visit http://www.muhajabah.com/otherscondemn.php to gain some insight into the extent of Muslim condemnation of violence.
While you’re at it, check out http://groups.colgate.edu/aarislam/response.htm#Hate%20crimes%20against%20American%20Muslims%20and%20Arab-Americans for the groundswell in hate crimes against people in America whose appearance fits the Islamic terrorist stereotype.

Daniel , what you forgot to mention was that the crusades were a reaction against Muslim/Islamist expansion into Europe, a struggle that was only temporarily stalled in the 1600’s outside the gates of Vienna.

The inquisition was wrong, but was stopped by Christians and led to a reform of the church.The troubles in Ireland, again, were widely condemned by Christians and it was Christians who brought the warring factions together to try for peace.

I see no reaction in the so called ‘mainstream moderate Muslim’ population in regards to the tens of thousands of cases of Islamic inspired violence world wide since 9/11. In fact, their silence is defacto license for the Islamic extremists to promulgate their hatred, and to foment violence in their societies (and ours) in order to obtain a world wide caliphate of Islam.

What would Jesus think?

Sure, it’s not the most edifying picture: incensed woman arguing her views volubly to a group intent on honoring one of their fallen.

But to call her a whore? Suggest stoning her?

I don’t know what path will lead the world to religious reconciliation, but I’m pretty sure this post, and the judgments made in its comments, aren’t taking us in the right direction.

Not, I guess, that being a whore is a bad thing in Jesus’s eyes; “harlots” being right up there with tax collectors in the queue to heaven.

But I don’t think you were using the word with the same love Jesus had?

Some facts probably wouldn’t go amiss.

2. She’s promulgating a positive message (whether true or not — if there’s any such thing): Islam is peace. Whilst the existence of a number of Muslims whose vision of their own path to salvation is ideally well lubricated by the blood of infidels cannot be ignored, anyone who visits violence in the name of Allah is as terribly misguided as the Crusaders who invoked God while hacking Arabs to pieces — or the Spanish, during the inquisition, or the IRA during Ireland’s religious wars, or….. If you see what I mean.
3. She believes in the same God as you.
4. Islam recognizes Jesus as a prophet, and Mary (“the purest of women”) as his virgin mother.
5. Jesus never advocated violence.
6. Hemorrhoid transplants? Never heard of ‘em, and hope I never will again. But Muslims did bring us shampoo, coffee, public hospitals and the arms the bearing of which a most sacred American right.

Disagree with her as much as you like. But beware dogma. Beware unkindness. Beware judging your fellow human beings Beware so casually invoking violence.

Be more like Jesus.

It would be easy to write her off as a looney but how many people think like her? Far too many for my comfort level.

Going on about how others had to respect her religion and then disrespecting our beliefs about Jesus. Someone should have made the sign of the cross in front of her just to tick her off.

Notice how the male reporter tried to get her to say what he wanted her to say.
