As Britain’s Lyn Julius has pointed out, Islam claims Maimonides as Muslim in an attempt to “disappear” Jewish identity. Geisweiller’s false calims are in the same vein.

In point of fact, the Scrolls were discovered decades before the 1967 war. The Bedu shepherds who initially found them committed a crime against the Jews by severely damaging these archaeological treasures in order to gain more money.

As the scrolls are a Jewish national heritage, such actions were criminal. So, too, were the extortion gentile intermediaries extracted from the government of Israel in holding the scrolls for ransom.

Just as outrageous - but little-known - is the Egyptian insistence that Israel hand over to Egypt Jewish artifacts Israel found in the Sinai. Egypt blackmailed Israel into giving in by threatening not to sign the Sinai peace treaty.

It’s sad because the Scrolls are about a million times more meaningful to the Jewish people than they are to the Palestinian people, and they are important in terms of the history of Israel. But still, several Palestinian groups and those who are “In Solidarity” want to complain and take the scrolls away from the Jews/Israel - simply because they are important to the Jews/Israel. Not because they are important to the Palestinian people. More petty fight-picking.

Can’t wait to buy my ticket! Supporting the exhibit is the best way of sticking it to these people, but a counter-protest would be fun in the meantime!

Yeah, because the poor defenceless arab nations (decapitalisation intentional) obviously didn’t see it coming after kicking out the UN peace-keeping force that had been in the Sinai Peninsula for 10 years, and then sending 1,000 tanks and 100,000 troops to Israel’s border.

All this I found out after a 5-second search on Wiki, which strives to be neutral but maintains a left bent on most things political.

Gotta love people who 1) don’t know their history and 2) can’t be arsed even checking their facts before blithely spreading their propaganda.

Again, “yeah”. Just how many ancient Egyptian artefacts were looted and taken by force by treasure hunters from all over the world, not to mention Inca, Aztec, Chinese, Persian, and any other ancient or merely old dead cultures throughout history?

I just love revisionist historians, retconning modern sensibilities and attitudes into past times where they have no place. Empires were the way of the world back then. It’s only since the 1700s that another type of nation existed at all.

Here’s a novel idea for those going to picket at the ROM.

Why not take a couple bags of garbage and drop it off Toronto City hall and make it Toronto’s newest collection site while on the way to ROM.

As far as the Scrolls, go I can’t get to Toronto to see the scrolls first hand either.. . . .
