Rape-Rape
I was raped when I was 14 years old, by a boy of 16. I was not drugged or sodomized - thank God - but it was still rape. Rape-rape.
I could not imagine what it would be like to be drugged and raped by a man of my father’s age. As it was, my parents were excellent at protecting me from all the weird uncles who populated my mother’s side of the family. The idea that one of them might have done that to me… unimaginable.
To be violated by an adult, a person of responsibility - a person of some acclaim - would be terrible. It would be like being touched in church, and not having your parents believe that Father O’Grady could ever do such a thing.
I do however know what it’s like to have my peers tell me it’s no big deal. That it shouldn’t matter. That it’s over, don’t raise a stink about it. Or, better yet: That he didn’t mean it.
This behavior has always baffled me. Why is it ok to be raped, just because the other person is older/stronger/richer/more famous than you are? Why do people stand up for the rapist, but not the raped?
What the hell is wrong with Whoopi Goldberg?
“I know it wasn’t rape-rape. It was something else but I don’t believe it was rape-rape. He went to jail and and when they let him out he was like ‘You know what, this guy’s going to give me a hundred years in jail I’m not staying,’ so that’s why he left.”
Roman Polanski left because he’s a guilty, cowardly rapist, Whoopi. A hundred years in jail, of being anally raped like that 13 year old girl was, would be just the thing for him.
I don’t see Whoopi as being a huge fan of cock - what if situations were reversed? How might she then feel about it?
This is Ted Kennedy all over again. This is anal-quiddick. This is what the definition of “is” is. This is Hollywood’s hatred of Elia Kazan.
If there’s a moral divide, you can bet your unraped anus that Hollywood will be standing on the wrong side.

Hollywood is FUBAR’ed. Men have gotten away with abusing young girls for as long as I remember. They are not all rich, not at all famous, and they still get away with it. Yeah I know guys, some perverted women do it too. It’s still sick behavior any way you look at it. Roman Polanski has been “free” for how many years? I say hang him by his balls!

I have to agree with you on this one, but you’ve pointed something else out here that is equally disturbing. Whoopi used the term rape-rape because the word rape has been completely desensitized in our society. The word once had a bite to it, but is more often used to describe what happens when a referee makes a bad call against you, or when someone is stealing your time, then it is to describe forced sex. Besides that, he has no right to complain about being made an example of when he could have legally gotten away with what he did in a handful of states in the South.

Good points. They see Polanski as one of theirs.
So whatever he does it is ok. If it was some movie director like Mel Gibson they would want him thrown in prison forever.

This had to be incredibly difficult and painful to write.God Bless you for doing it, and I trust that the nightmare of reliving this abomination doesn’t keep you awake all night. Hopefully, the Los Angeles DA has the balls to stand tough against the left wing Hollyweird liberals that adore and condone this criminal behavior. What people seem to have forgotten is that this bastard was CONVICTED and then fled before serving his sentence. There is no freaking statute of limitations (I swear if I hear one more person ask that question I’m going to do bodily harm)!!! He was convicted. Period. He is a fugitive from justice. He should have to spend the rest of his life rotting in a jail cell, where hopefully he will be sodomized as his victim was 32 years ago. Here’s a toast to you Wendy…may you continue to tell your story so that others may learn. Don’t listen to anyone who says what happened to you “wasn’t a big deal”. It IS A VERY BIG DEAL.

I agree. Do it to him. It’s nothing less than he deserves. How many rapes go unreported? Screw Hollywood. Why does their opinion matter? It’s easy for Whoopi to act like this, after all, it didn’t happen to her.

I do not think that I shall wager my unraped anus on anything. Thank you for putting that image in my head just before bedtime.

Thank you for sharing this most painful of memories. I have to wonder, where is the outrage from NOW?

3 days ago, my opinion of Roman Polanski was closer to Whoopi then yours. Then I went to Smoking Gun web site and read the girl testimony and Roman Polanski guilty plea. The man should be in jail for the rest of his life. I saw a documentary or a news report years ago about Polanski and they whitewashed his crime to the point I felt he should be left along. The show made it seem her mother approved of the sex, the girl wanted it, and Polanski just got drunk at the wrong time.
Anyone can see that my writing talent is lacking, but I hope more blogs can write what really happened. I fear most people feel like I did a few days ago.

In fairness, his victim does seem to forgive him. His “everybody wants to do it” remark, however, shows that he doesn’t think he needs forgiveness. In my view, this makes him a continued threat who ought to be, at a minimum, deprived of his freedom.
Force him to direct film versions of Oprah’s Bookclub paperbacks; restitution and mortifying punishment in one blow!

The crime perpetrated against a young girl - is a crime against society. The case was the State against Polanski. Society demands justice be served - no matter the wishes of the victim. Ensuring Polanski serves his sentence protects all of our children.
