Obama Bows to a World Leader, Again
President Obama recently bowed to Emperor Akihito in Japan. At this point, one might wonder exactly who is advising Barack Obama, if any one at all. If you will recall, this is the latest in what seems to be a string of inappropriate greetings in international settings by our Commander-in-Chief.
So far to date, Barack Obama has bowed to Saudi King Abdullah, given an exaggerated nod to Queen Elizabeth II, and there has been speculation as to whether or not he has offered a similar gesture to Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
This is troublesome, and embarrassing. Common sense would indicate that it would more than likely be difficult for international leaders to take our president seriously if he is constantly subordinating himself to them. Perception goes a long way on the international stage, and at this juncture, an honest observer of the situation would be hard pressed to find an incident where Obama has projected himself as leader of the free world when he travels abroad, let alone an equal.
For those who would argue that President Obama is trying to “make amends” for some of America’s supposed arrogance of the past, it should be made known that bowing to other leaders is not a traditional form of greeting, particularly in the case of Emperor Akihito. The Emperor is most commonly greeted with a simple handshake.
So, with that in mind, it could be fair to say that what is going on here goes far beyond supposed protocol. This appears to be another whistle-stop in the “Obama Apologizes for America tour”. It doesn’t seem that he has given up on his concept of being a “citizen of the world”, and it looks like he intends to remain in a never ending campaign to be personally adored until the end of his term in office.
Americans thought they had elected a leader. It doesn’t look like that happened. Instead, they got a teenage girl who just transferred to a new school and is desperate to do anything to fit in with the cool kids. However, unlike high school, when President Obama ends up getting stuffed in a locker, America will be the one who feels the pain and humiliation.

I find the bowing, particularly in this case, highly offensive. I had four uncles who served in WWII and Korea. Three of the four had direct dealing with the Imperial Japanese Army and could relate colorfully what the bowing was all about. I think that Obama is well aware of that fact, and that like many in his culture is a perenial button-pusher.
We’re currently and have been at war with (a or numerous)factions of manical Islamic groups. So he bows to a Saudi despot, basically giving the finger to our troops who are in harms way. Then, just a couple of days after Veterans/Remeberance Day, he bows to a Japanese Emperor. What a disgrace.

You are truly a “right wing” girl. If you think American arrogance can continue to win the day ………. you are sadly the “wrong girl”!

My take on this groveling stuff RG, is it is this worship of other cultures over your own that permeates the left mentality. Diversity, multi-culturalism but most of all EQUALITY, causes him to reflexively try to diminish the West’s stature/power/values to that of other nations/cultures/values.
What a nice boy, but a dumbass naive leader. Reagan he’s not. Scary!

Obie should just go back to the Steve Erkel mode that he is playing so well.
He is a joke. Unfortunately, the people of the US (and to a lesser degree) Canada are going to have to suffer the punchlines…..

Hi Gang. Just as an FYI, please note the byline at the bottom of this post isn’t RightGirl. It’s Art Lindsey, host of Out in Right Field, which can be heard weekly on Take That! Radio (http://www.takethatradio.com).
Art is guest blogging while I remind under my moss-covered rock, probably for the remainder of 2009.
Cheerio, y’all.

First off, you don’t REALLY need to look into every little thing a person does and read it looking for subtle signs of weakness. If the first wife picks a wedgie, is that an offense to someone out there or was she JUST uncomfortable with a piece of cotton up her arse?
I believe that he submitted himself to diplomacy, if anything. He has to greet these other leaders of worlds where we are looked at as small minded, fat, lazy, idiots. How would it look if our representative comes off as better than thou.
I don’t know what cardboard shack you were raised out of, but no matter where I went, I was told to be humble. No matter if the person I’m visiting lives in squalor or not. Being humble is not a fault of his. And no matter what they say in those countries, they will ALWAYS not that he did bow and show respect to the people he visits.
And to those that share memories of war, I say, if you DON’T do these little things we will always be in war for something even more petty. God, look at the Palestines!

Good for Obama. Frankly, I’m looking forward to him carrying presidential knee-pads on these visits.

Poor little Dick - ““Humility is the solid foundation of all the virtues.” Confucius
You are truly a “right wing” girl. If you think American arrogance can continue to win the day ………. you are sadly the “wrong girl”!”
First, it appears as though you would rather live “the simple life” of a 7th century tent dweller who finds that the best option for those who don’t agree is death. Or is it better to exalt the ones who slaughtered at least hundreds of thousands in their Pacific regional quest for world domination and subjugation of all not like them?
It is moronic use of “wise quotes” from Confucius and others that give you and those like you your “moral superiority” while soldiers die so you don’t have to lick Islamic or Oriental boots - although you do seem the type who would prefer to live on their knees in service to death on your feet to defend an ideal and a way of life.
Surely you are a girlyman, fearful of all, to include the dark, your shadow and people who have ideas that upset your ideas of all the world living in harmony and peace. Let me tell you a cold hard fact. Ain’t gonna happen. As long as there are people who excel, there will be lesser people who will do all they can to bring them down to their level. I see you in that category.
Right Girl is a treasure. She says what she thinks and thinks what she says. You on the other hand are simply iron pyrite - fools gold. Worthless and without value. But the forces of good will even drag you along to let you live your whinyass girlyman life and cry all the way.
Have a wimpy day, eh.

Damn, that would make for an excellent political cartoon. Get creative you cartoonists.

I have found Prozac to work well in times of excessive stress Kbob. Though Ten High can sometimes be a substituted for near-do-wells.

Thank you Jimmy, but I have no need for either mood altering pharmaceuticals nor strong drink.
I am on a mission, and it is a case of lead, follow or get the hell out of the way and shut up.
I hope you have a pleasant day and sufficient quantities of drug and drink to carry you through these times. Myself - I believe that God created man and Sam Colt, and his friends Messrs. Smith and Wesson made us equal. To that end, I am maintaining my supplies for defense of what matters. You might do the same, unless you are kin to Little Dick.

Yikes! kbob in katy…….or is that shish kabob on katy…or the kitty?? You are in need of immediate help! Great to see you watched Saturday Night Live with Hans & Franz ……….. kind of tells me quite a lot about you already! Here’s another quote you can try to absorb through that muscle layer you call a brain. “The more you sweat in peace, the less you bleed in war.” & “Forget your History, you are destined to repeat it.” But heh, you probably have a grade 5 certificate at best, which you probably obtained by putting a Smith&Wesson to your teacher’s head! Right Girl, by the way has some great thought provoking stuff on her website, which is always a good thing. Also RG is under a rock some where and Art is hosting this blog! You might also want to get on your knees, and pray to the good Lord you are still able to do so! You, have a wonderful day!
