Earlier in the summer, Porsche Cars North America chief Klaus Zellmer announced that the Rennsport Reunion, a weekend-long celebration of all things Porsche—especially Zuffenhausen-related motorsport—would return in 2018, though he wasn’t prepared to announce the location. Now it can be told: The sixth edition of what fans invariably reduce to Rennsport will be held at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca from September 27-30, 2018.

Started at Lime Rock in 2001 and followed by two events at Daytona (2004 and 2007), Rennsport Reunion moved to Laguna Seca for its fourth edition in 2011, and returned to the Monterey Peninsula in 2015. For the Porsche nerd, to call the event nirvana is to potentially sell it short. We’ll never forget standing between a Gulf-liveried 917K and an L&M 917/10 as both cars fired up during Rennsport IV.

During Rennsport V’s closing dinner, outgoing PCNA head Detlev von Platen said he wasn’t sure if a sixth iteration would happen, given the amount of time and energy required to put it on. You could practically feel the air sucked out of the room. Thankfully, those who perhaps care a little too much about Porsche’s storied racing history can breathe a little easier. If you’re one of them, we’re sure we’ll see you in Monterey next September.
